Every aspect of Hood Tech’s VTOL system (FLARES) has been engineered to provide vertical launch capability to fixed-wing UAVs without compromising the mission. An extraordinary design allows for zero airframe changes, zero impact on endurance, and an increase in UAV useful load. Small wingtip hooks are generally all that is needed to prepare a UAV for VTOL operations.

Built to deliver maximum versatility and uncompromising utility, FLARES can adapt to your airframe and your mission. Without the need to add bulky parts or make structural changes, FLARES is configurable to an assortment of fixed-wing UAVs.

Small footprint for Land and Sea Operations

Quick tool-less assembly, and small operating footprint allow fixed-wing UAV operations in confined areas. With solutions for ship deployment, there is almost nowhere FLARES can’t launch and recover.

Engineered with Generous Margins and Redundancy

FLARES components are generously sized with built-in redundancy, resulting in a robust system with ample safety margins. The combination of true motor out redundancy and unparalleled performance has translated to a perfect safety record. With a motor failure, FLARES can complete a launch/recovery sequence safely without secondary damage. Real-world tests demonstrate the ability to operate above 10,000-foot density altitudes in gusts exceeding 30-knots. FLARES systems have been rigorously tested in extreme conditions from -20C up to +45C in rain, snow, and dust.
